Academics offered at Shea

  • Honors courses in Math, Language Arts, Science, and Social Studies are available.
  • Modified block for Math and Language arts to create longer classes for these subjects giving students time to dive deeper into content.
  • The robust, conceptual and problem-solving math curriculum is designed to help students understand why the math works.
  • English to sharpen reading and writing skills necessary for success, as well as engage in rich literature studies. 
  • Science entails a hands-on approach with in-class experiments
  • The College-Focused AVID program and instructional strategies help students prepare for college and career assessments.  
  • Tutoring is available for all students. 

Electives

  • North Valley Arts Academies is a rigorous and engaging course, specializing in Theater, Dance, Visual Arts and Music Technology. Honors coursework is available at Shadow Mountain High School.

Clubs and Extra-Curricular

Clubs and extra curricular are great ways to help students develop passion and perseverance.  Clubs change yearly based on student and staff interested. 

Clubs include:  

  • National Junior Honor Society
  • Imprints of Honor - students interview Veterans for publication
  • Student Government
  • Wake Up Club - Student service club led by our School Resource Officer
  • Theater
  • Strategic games
  • Crocheting 

The mission of the Curriculum Department is to increase student achievement through the provision of systemic innovative curricula characterized by standards and research-based educational programs that deliver effective and differentiated instruction in partnership with schools, families, and the PVSchools community.

In PVSchools, we engage, inspire, and nurture students through high-quality instruction, meaningful educational opportunities, and dynamic learning experiences. Curriculum, adhering to Arizona state standards, is adopted transparently with opportunities for community feedback.
