Middle School Athletics

Student holds basketball

PVSchools strongly advocates for extracurricular athletic participation as a vital component of the middle school educational journey.

The middle school athletics program allows every student to engage in a wholesome, constructive, and age-appropriate activity. Irrespective of the sport they choose, each student-athlete will receive fundamental training, imbibe the values of sportsmanship, be showered with praise, and enjoy the benefits of teamwork and mutual support.

PVSchools middle school sports program is a platform for developing confident and motivated student-athletes who can make meaningful contributions to their school communities. At PVSchools, every student should have the opportunity to participate in sports, regardless of their experience level or physical ability; henceforth, sports programs are accessible to all students, with no physicals required and a nominal participation fee.

PVSchools coaches are passionate about helping students learn the fundamentals of their chosen sport and spend four weeks working with athletes on drills, scrimmages, rules, and sportsmanship. There are no eliminations during this time, and all interested students are encouraged to play. Every student has something to offer, and the district wants to help them discover and develop their skills.

The Festival sports season culminates in a district-wide Saturday sports festival at a local high school. This is an exciting opportunity for athletes to showcase their talents and compete against other schools in the district. To participate in middle school sports, students must submit permission forms and payment for each activity by the announced deadline.

After the Festival tournament, coaches select a team of 12 to 15 athletes to represent the school in the All-Star sports program. Every participant practices for four weeks and competes in a Saturday festival. A separate 7th and 8th grade All-Star team is chosen during this time. The All-Star teams then play a seven-game schedule against other district middle schools, receiving instruction from high school coaches and players one day a week.
